songs you get stuck in your head

you know how sometimes you get a song stuck in your head? okay. this lady, Janis Ian, sang the most incredible songs, with this moody, "thinking out loud" voice. but this one song, At Seventeen (lyrics http://www.janisian.com/lyrics/At%20Seventeen.pdf) got stuck in my head. so, i'm walking around talking to people and hearing this song going through my brain, in janis ian's meditative, yearning croon. yeah. even singing along with bits of it. someone asked, "what did you say?" not enough, wish i could say it like she does.

there was this song ... i think it was called clare (claire?) something like that. i heard it on the radio the other day and it just kind of hit me all of a sudden ... you know, if the guy sang that song now, he'd probably be picked up for molestation or something. but all it was, was a song some guy was singing about an adorable little kid. or at least, that's what i thought when i first heard it? i don't know.

you know, its really kind of amazing the issues that are covered in old music. most teens seem to think they invented sex or something. for example, dr. hook's song, a little bit more. the rest of the kids didn't seem to know it, so i started singing it and they were like OMGGGGGGG when did that come out? who's the artist? what kind of lyrics is THAT???? ahahahahhaaa its called old music. lmao!
